Bud's secret proposal surprise
An October wedding is happening very soon for two of my good friends, and that fact has me reminiscing on this wonderful couple’s surprise wedding proposal that I was very privileged to capture. It was a cold day at Bryce Canyon, but Bud did his best to warm it up! Bud approached me with a few ideas to propose a month or so before the event went down. Now, this couple is adventurous and they take all of the coolest trips into the wilderness together! Bryce Canyon was where they had gone on their first trip together, so Bud decided that Bryce would be a perfect location. No argument there! Candee had been dying for a new pair of hiking shoes, so Bud bought her some really nice Solomons and slid the ring between the shoe laces. He wrapped up her gift tight and placed it in his day pack. He also ordered this ridiculously amazing red rose arrangement to give to her, and I picked it up on my way down to Bryce. I thought it was going to be just a pretty rose arrangement and something I could carry over to the proposal and hide in the bushes. No. My. Friends. This arrangement required a seatbelt and someone to direct me as I couldn’t see my feet or in front of me. I had partial peripheries and that was it! Haha!! I had to keep the flowers in my car till after the question was popped due mostly to wind (It was crazy windy that evening).
I was able to drive down for the day, do a little hiking of my own, and attempt to take cell phone selfies. I’m not as pro as a millennial… Definitely not…
Yes… I did wear a shirt that says “HECK YES” to a marriage proposal. I feel it was quite fitting.
I pretended to be a regular tourist taking pictures of the view as they came to Sunrise Point where I was waiting for them to arrive. We continued to hike down the trail a little ways to open up to the gorgeous Earth cheetohs view for Bud’s gift and question. My problem was that by this time and in the cold, all the other tourists had left! So, with very little place to conceal myself, I still had to get pictures without giving it all away! I should have worn a ridiculous disguise - ridiculous enough to really throw Candee off! Ha! I wasn’t completely successful, but that’s okay. We were underway and magic was happening!! I’m so lucky to be able to know the people I do, and to get to know others through them and through my work! Candee is seriously the coolest lady around, and they are amazing together! Well, here are some photos from our Bryce Canyon Surprise! Enjoy!!
