Traveling to Utah for your session?

Chelsea and Casey traveled from Florida for their vacation in beautiful Utah. One of their top priorities was professional couple photos at the Salt Flats. Should this be something to consider as a stop during your Utah visit? Yes! Absolutely. Make sure if you are traveling in and want to visit the Salt Flats that you have considered your timing. During August there is a big event called Speed Week. The dates fluctuate a little bit, but the crowds can be high with cars, tents and crowds on the salt and is not a good time to plan any photo sessions at the Salt Flats.

The flats have two distinctly different looks - dry, white salt and wet, possibly lightly flooded salt. If you want the dry, white salt you will have the best luck visiting the Salt Flats during summer months of May through August. Fall can be a wonderful time to visit the flats and they are usually dry during these months, but can quickly flood with the autumn storms. When we begin to enter winter and spring months the snow and rain will cause the flats to flood often times, so if you are looking for the best chance to receive the reflection and shallow water at the Salt Flats, the winter and spring months are your most likely chance. Day to day the Salt Flats can change between wet and dry, but they do favor certain looks during these seasons. Visiting in Fall time

Chelsea and Casey visited Utah during the fall. The Salt Flats were dry, white and crystalline for our stunning couples session! She rented her gowns from a local dress company - Salt Gowns. To have a beautiful vision of how your Salt Flats session could look enjoy some of the most beautiful highlights from their couple session. We photographed through a warm, golden sunset and into a colorful, soft blue hour. My very favorite time to photograph at the Salt Flats - definitely sunset and blue hour during the summer and fall months.
