The Coley Elopement Experience

Your elopement deserves photos that feel joyful, genuine, and as unique as your love story. I bring fun energy, thoughtful guidance, and expert timing so you can stay present with each other instead of worrying about what to do.

We’ll laugh, soak in the views, and create images that help you relive every breathtaking moment.

Your elopement isn’t about doing what you “should” do — it’s about choosing what feels right for you. I’ll guide you with confident direction, beautiful light, and an easy approach so your photos feel natural and your gallery feels honest, personal, and full of life.

I photograph elopements throughout Utah including Zion National Park, the Bonneville Salt Flats, Moab’s red rock landscapes, Park City’s mountain peaks, and quiet alpine locations across the Wasatch Range. Let's find the location that is begging for your love story to happen there.

Elopement vs Micro Wedding

Not sure if you're eloping or planning a micro wedding?

If you're dreaming of a private, experience-driven day focused mostly on the two of you, you're likely planning an elopement. If you want a ceremony and celebration with more guests, a micro wedding might be the better fit.

Elopements

Usually just the two of you (plus maybe a few guests).

Typically 0–10 people.

Micro Weddings

A small wedding celebration with guests.

Usually 10–50 people.

Elopements are for everyone

You Belong Here

I believe the outdoors are for everyone.

Whether you've hiked Mount Timpanogos before sunrise or you’ve never seen Utah’s red rocks in person, you belong here. We'll create an itinerary that meets you exactly where you are, with incredible views and plenty of space to slow down and enjoy the experience.

And just as importantly — love is love. I’m proud to celebrate couples of all genders, orientations, and backgrounds. You deserve a photographer who makes you feel safe, seen, and fully yourselves from the very first message.

Your Elopement can Look Like

Your day might be just the two of you hiking to a peaceful overlook and exchanging vows in total quiet.

Or maybe it’s a sunrise first look in the mountains, coffee in town midday, and sunset portraits in the red rocks.

It could even be a small ceremony with a few of your favorite humans followed by a just-us adventure to celebrate your marriage.

There’s no right way to elope. Whatever your version looks like, I’ll help you create an experience that feels personal, meaningful, and unforgettable.

Utah Elopement Photography FAQ

How do you elope in Utah?

Eloping in Utah is surprisingly simple. Couples obtain a marriage license from any Utah county clerk office, which is valid anywhere in the state. After your ceremony, the signed license is returned to the same clerk’s office to make the marriage official.

Many outdoor locations — especially national parks like Zion — also require a special use permit. I help couples navigate location ideas, permits, and timeline planning so the entire experience feels smooth and stress-free.

How many hours of photography do we need for an elopement?

Most Utah elopements need 4–10 hours of coverage, depending on the locations you want to explore and the type of experience you’re planning. Some couples prefer a short, intimate ceremony, while others build a full adventure day that includes multiple locations and sunset portraits.

Can we still include guests at our elopement?

Absolutely! Many couples invite a small group of close family or friends to share the ceremony and celebration. If you’re planning something with more guests and a longer celebration, you may want to explore a micro wedding instead.

Do you help plan the elopement experience?

Yes! I help couples with location ideas, permit guidance, timeline planning, and tips for creating a relaxed adventure-style wedding day. My goal is to make the experience feel natural and meaningful while capturing every moment beautifully.

Do you travel for elopements outside of Utah?

Yes! While I photograph many elopements throughout Utah’s mountains and national parks, I also travel for destination elopements and adventure weddings in other locations.

Do we need a permit to elope in Utah?

Some locations, especially national parks like Zion or Arches, require a special use permit for ceremonies. I help couples understand permit requirements and choose locations that match their vision and guest count.

You Don't Have to have it all figured Out

I'm ready for some team work!

Planning an elopement is different from planning a traditional wedding, and most couples start with more questions than answers. That’s completely normal.

As a Utah elopement photographer, I help couples not just document their day but also navigate the experience — from choosing a meaningful location and understanding permit requirements to building a relaxed timeline that allows space for the adventure.

Whether you already have a dream location in mind or you’re just starting to imagine what your day could look like, we’ll figure it out together.

Your job is simply to show up, be present with each other, and soak in the experience.

I’ll take care of helping the rest fall into place.
