Your wedding package includes one pre-wedding session of your choice: an engagement session or a wedding formals/bridals session.

Both offer incredible benefits, and if you want the full experience you can absolutely add the second session and enjoy both.

Engagement Session

A relaxed, fun session in everyday or elevated outfits that reflect your personality and wedding vibe. Perfect for getting comfortable on camera and creating photos you'll actually use before the wedding.

Wedding Formals Session

A portrait session in your full wedding attire on a different day than the wedding. Ideal for a private first look, epic portraits in your dream location, and easing the pressure on your wedding day timeline.

Not sure which session to choose?

Do we want engagements or formals?

Start Here

Ask yourself:

Do you want to feel extra comfortable on camera before the wedding day?

Do you want your best portraits in a specific location outside your venue?

Would you rather wear your wedding attire for that scenery, or keep it more casual like an engagement session?

Are you hoping to reduce the time needed for couple portraits on your wedding day timeline?

Which photos are you most likely to print and display in your home?

If you want both types of memories, you can also add on the second session. A lot of Utah couples love doing an engagement session and a formals session, because it’s the easiest way to customize your package to fit perfectly.

Best Utah Engagement Photo Locations

Utah offers some of the most beautiful places for engagement sessions. From the alpine mountains of Park City to the dramatic desert landscapes near Moab and the endless horizons of the Bonneville Salt Flats, there’s no shortage of incredible backdrops.

Together we’ll choose a location that fits your personality, the season, and the overall feel you want for your photos.

Engagement Sessions

As a Utah engagement photographer, I design sessions that feel relaxed, natural, and completely true to you.

Engagement sessions are one hour of you two being yourselves while I guide you with natural direction that never feels stiff. We’ll choose a location that fits your vibe, whether that’s mountains, city, or somewhere meaningful to you. Most couples wear one or two outfits, and you’ll leave feeling way more confident for your wedding day.

Engagement sessions are perfect for:

  • Getting comfortable in front of the camera and learning my photo style
  • Save-the-dates, invitations, and wedding website photos
  • Prints for your reception and your home
  • A fun date-night experience where you get dressed up and laugh a lot

If you’re thinking “we’re awkward”…

You’re normal. Almost every couple starts there. My job is to guide you and keep it moving so it feels easy and natural.

If you’re thinking “we can have a friend take them”…

Totally an option. The difference is this session is designed to help you feel confident with me and on camera before your wedding day and create images that match the look and quality of your final wedding gallery.

Wedding Formals Sessions

Your wedding attire, the best light, and space to slow down

Some call them Bridals, some call them wedding formals session. These are a portrait session in your wedding attire on a day separate from your wedding day. Many couples schedule these before the wedding for a private first look and stunning portraits without adding pressure to the wedding day timeline.

It's also a great opportunity for a hair, makeup, floral, and suit test run.

Some couples prefer to keep their first look for the aisle moment on the wedding day, but still want plenty of time for portraits in wedding attire. In that case, formals can be scheduled after the wedding day as a relaxed, beautiful add-on.

Formals sessions are perfect for:

  • Tight wedding day timelines or short coverage windows
  • Venues with limited grounds for portraits
  • Couples who want epic portraits somewhere they love
  • Anyone who wants less pressure and more breathing room on the wedding day

FAQ

Do you travel for our photoshoots?

Absolutely. I'm based in Utah County, but often travel to Utah destination locations like the Salt Flats, Zion National Park, Park City, Moab, and more. Locations outside of Utah are also available for sessions!

Where should we take our engagement photos in Utah?

Let's talk about it! I have hundreds of locations we can consider for your session. Whether you are thinking Park City mountain town, piney mountains, the white Salt Flats, or Utah's desert views, we can find the best locations for your session.

Do we have to choose between an engagement session and a formals session?

Nope. One session is included with your wedding package, and you can always add the second if you want both experiences.

How long does it take to get our photos?

Your full gallery will be delivered within 2 weeks of your session date.

When should we schedule our session?

Engagement sessions usually happen when you’re ready for save-the-dates or a minimum of 2 months before your wedding. Formals are most often done around a month before the wedding, but can also be scheduled for after your wedding date.
