Guardsman Pass Engagement Photos | Park City Engagement Photographer
There’s just something about engagement photos in the mountains — especially when those mountains happen to be right above Park City.
For M & C's engagement session, we headed up to Guardsman Pass, where sweeping mountain views, aspen trees, open meadows, and that beautiful high-elevation light gave us so much variety without needing to travel far between locations.
If you’re dreaming of Park City engagement photos that feel relaxed, adventurous, and unmistakably Utah, Guardsman Pass is one of those locations that delivers.
Mountain Engagement Photos in Park City
One of my favorite things about photographing couples in the Park City mountains is that the scenery can be incredible without the session needing to feel like a full hiking expedition.
Around Guardsman Pass, we can create a mix of those big, dramatic mountain portraits alongside quieter moments tucked into the trees, walking through the grass, or simply letting you two hang out together while I photograph everything happening in between.
That combination of beautiful scenery + natural movement + genuine interaction is always what I’m after.
Guardsman Pass is especially beautiful through the warmer months and into fall, with mountain greenery, wildflowers, aspens and huge views across the Wasatch. The road is seasonal and isn't maintained as a winter route, so this is primarily a summer and fall location.
Thinking About Proposing in Park City?
While this session was an engagement session rather than the proposal itself, Guardsman Pass also makes an incredible backdrop if you're planning a surprise proposal in Park City.
A mountain overlook, a quiet trail, sunset through the aspens — there are several ways to create a proposal here that feels private and intentional while still having the Park City mountains surrounding you.
If you're looking for a Park City proposal photographer, I can help you think through timing, lighting, where I can hide while you propose, and how we can transition into a short engagement session afterward without ruining the surprise.

Engagement Photos Before a Park City Mountain Wedding
For couples planning a Park City mountain wedding, an engagement session in the mountains can also be such a fun way to make your entire experience feel connected.
Maybe you’re getting married at a Park City resort, ranch, or mountain venue but want your engagement photos somewhere completely outdoors. Or maybe the mountains are simply a big part of why you chose Utah in the first place.
Either way, your engagement session gives us a chance to photograph somewhere beautiful, get comfortable working together, and create images that feel like you long before the wedding day arrives.
Say hello. Let's work together.

Planning your proposal or engagement photos?
Whether you're already engaged, secretly planning the proposal, or looking for the perfect mountain location for your engagement photos, I would love to help you create something that feels like the two of you.
I photograph engagements, surprise proposals, weddings, and intimate celebrations throughout Park City and the Utah mountains, with plenty of guidance when you need it and room for the real moments to happen in between.
